    Racking & Storage Systems

    3. Racking & Storage
CHC designs racking, shelving and storage systems that help warehouses make better use of available floor and vertical space. From direct-access pallet rack to high-density storage and adjustable shelving, each solution can be tailored to product dimensions, inventory flow and handling equipment. Properly designed storage systems improve organization, accessibility, inventory control and operational efficiency while supporting future growth.

    Racking Systems

Rack structures that provide storage for pallets, cartons and inventory items.

    Conventional Pallet Rack

    RACK

Conventional selective pallet rack provides direct access to every stored pallet, making it ideal for operations with numerous products or frequently changing inventory. Roll-formed and structural-steel systems are available with adjustable beam heights and a wide range of accessories. Its flexible, modular design simplifies picking and replenishment, supports future expansion and provides an economical balance of accessibility and storage capacity.

    Drive-in/Drive Thru

    RACK

Drive-in and drive-through rack systems store pallets several positions deep on continuous support rails, significantly reducing the number of required aisles. Drive-in configurations are accessed from one side and typically provide last-in, first-out inventory flow, while drive-through systems can support first-in, first-out rotation. Both options maximize storage density for large quantities of similar products and limited-SKU inventory.

    Carton Flow Rack

    RACK

Carton-flow rack uses inclined roller or wheel-track lanes to move cartons from the replenishment side toward the picking face. Products are loaded from the rear and retrieved from the front, supporting first-in, first-out inventory rotation. Separating replenishment and picking improves workflow, while the dense lane configuration increases storage capacity, product visibility and order-picking speed for cases or individual items.

    Cantilever Rack

    RACK

Cantilever rack uses horizontal arms extending from vertical columns to provide unobstructed storage for long, bulky or irregular products. Adjustable single- and double-sided configurations accommodate lumber, pipe, steel, carpet, furniture and appliances of varying dimensions. The open-front design improves product visibility and lift-truck access while allowing arm elevations and capacities to be reconfigured as inventory requirements change.

    Push Back Rack

    RACK

Push-back rack stores pallets on nested carts or rollers positioned within inclined lanes. Each new pallet pushes the previous loads farther into the rack, while pallets automatically advance toward the aisle as loads are removed. This last-in, first-out system commonly stores pallets two to six positions deep, increasing storage density while maintaining faster loading and retrieval than many drive-in applications.

    Pallet Flow Rack

    RACK

Pallet-flow rack uses inclined roller or wheel lanes to move pallets from the loading side toward the retrieval aisle. Pallets are replenished from the rear and selected from the front, providing first-in, first-out inventory rotation. Speed controllers and separators maintain controlled movement and spacing, helping facilities increase storage density, improve stock rotation and separate replenishment traffic from order-selection activity.

    Wire Decking

    RACK

Wire decking creates a strong mesh storage surface across pallet-rack beams for supporting pallets, cartons and irregular loads. Waterfall, flush and inside-waterfall configurations are available for different beam and product requirements. The open design improves visibility and allows light, air and sprinkler water to pass through while increasing load stability and reducing the risk of items falling between beams.

    Mobile Rack Systems

    RACK

Mobile storage systems mount pallet racks on powered or mechanically operated bases that move along floor-mounted rails. Only the aisle currently needed is opened, eliminating the space consumed by multiple permanent access aisles. Safety sensors and controls protect employees and equipment, while the high-density design can substantially increase storage capacity within an existing warehouse, cooler or specialized storage area.

    Shelving

Ergonomic shelving units provide flexible storage space for individual SKUs, totes, cartons, and other hand-picked inventory.

    Steel Shelving

    SHELF

Steel shelving provides durable, adjustable storage for parts, cartons, tools and supplies in warehouses, stockrooms and maintenance areas. Clip-type systems allow shelves to be repositioned quickly, while nut-and-bolt construction provides a secure, economical alternative. Open, closed and high-capacity configurations can be equipped with bins, dividers and drawers to improve organization, product visibility and use of available vertical space.

    Wire Shelving

    SHELF

Wire shelving combines an open, ventilated design with durable, easily adjustable storage. Chrome, powder-epoxy and metallic-epoxy finishes are available for dry, humid, food-service and specialized environments. The open shelves improve visibility, reduce dust accumulation and allow air, light and sprinkler coverage to pass through, while adjustable posts and accessories make the system easy to reconfigure for changing inventory.

    Wide Span Shelving

    SHELF
    wide_span_description_image_chc_racking_&_storage_equipment

Wide-span shelving bridges the capacity gap between standard shelving and pallet rack. Heavy-duty beams support wire decking, steel panels or particleboard shelves for storing bulky cartons, containers, equipment and hand-loaded inventory. Its wider, deeper shelf openings provide clear access to large products, while adjustable beam elevations and modular construction make it a flexible solution for stockrooms, warehouses and order-picking operations.

    Mobile Shelving

    SHELF
    mobile_storage_system_description_image_chc_racking_&_storage_equipment-1

Mobile shelving places rows of standard shelving on movable carriages so only one access aisle is opened at a time. Manual, mechanically assisted and powered systems are available picking operations. Eliminating multiple fixed aisles can increase storage capacity by approximately 30 to 60 percent while improving organization, security and use of existing floor space.
